Writing a proper email is important, especially when most of our communication will be online this year. Be sure to following these guidelines:
1. Write a specific subject line
Use the subject line to tell what the email will be about. It should be less than 10 words.
2. Start with a formal greeting
Examples: Dear [Name], Hi [Name], Good morning [Name], Good evening [Name], Hello [Name]
3. Provide context for the recipient
Be sure you are specific with your message. Make sure you include enough information.
4. Proofread, spellcheck, and capitalize
Don't use “text-lingo” with abbreviations, uncapitalized words (like “i”), and misspellings.
5. End with a formal closing line
Examples: Sincerely, [your name], Best regards, [your name], All the best, [your name], Thanks, [your name]
